Welcome from your guides

We are very much looking forward to welcome you all when you start your new studies after the summer.

We have made a great, fun, and educational programme for the introduction week in week 35, which we are excited to presenting to you. We acknowledge that first day at school can be tough (lots of stress, awkwardness, etc.) we want to remove all of that and create a fun introduction week where you will get to know each other, socialize, meet your new classmates and create some strong friendships!

The introduction week will also give you a good introduction to the program and its courses, exchange oppurtunities, and prepare you for your academic life here at CBS.

Welcome from Study Director

Congratulations on being accepted into the prestigious BSc in International Shipping and Trade at CBS!

You are joining the programme at a time when shipping, trade, and logistics have never been more important. Geopolitical tensions, climate change, energy transition, digitalisation, and disruptions to global supply chains are reshaping how goods move across the world. In this changing environment, shipping is not only about transporting cargo from one place to another. It is about connecting markets, securing access to essential goods, supporting global trade, and building more resilient and sustainable supply chains.

Over the next three years, my colleagues and I will provide you with engaging learning opportunities that allow you to build a strong business foundation while developing your own academic and professional profile. You will gain insights into shipping markets, trade, logistics, finance, law, strategy, sustainability, and data-driven decision-making

A key feature of our programme is the close connection to industry. Through internships in leading shipping, trade, and logistics companies, you will gain practical experience and develop skills that are highly relevant in today’s competitive and rapidly changing job market. In your second year, you will also go abroad on exchange at one of our international partner universities. This is a valuable chance to broaden your horizons, develop global perspectives, and grow both academically and personally.

You will quickly become part of a vibrant student community. We expect dedication, persistence, and active engagement from you, and we will support and challenge you every step of the way. If you approach your studies with an open mind, a strong work ethic, and a willingness to work with others, you will thrive in this program!

Welcome to your new academic home at CBS — and to the fascinating world of international shipping, trade, and logistics.

Welcome onboard!

Meet your study start guides

Thomas Kouziortis
Study Start Coordinator

Hi, My Name is Thomas Kouziortis, and I am one of your Study Start Coordinators this year! I am 23 years old, and I am from Greece. I love outdoor activities such as swimming, hiking and travelling. I love going to the cinema and I am a big fun of Marvel and Star Wars. I remember I was so stressed for my first day on Intro-Week, but I promise you the stress only last for the first 5 minutes after that it will all disappear. Intro-Week was the best a week of 2025 for me, and I had lots of fun and met some of my good friends there. I promise this will be a week to remember. See you in August!

Magnus Ladegaard
Study Start Coordinator

My name is Magnus, I am from the United States/Denmark. I love cooking, traveling and the outdoors. I remember when I started I was a bit nervous until I realized everybody is in the same boat, and everybody just wanted to connect with each other. I look forward to meeting you all in August and having a great introduction week with you.

Mathias Falch
Study Start Guide

My biggest expectation for the intro week is that you come with an open mind and throw yourself into the activities because that is how the best connections are made. The friendships you build in these first few days will last your entire degree. My biggest concern when attending my intro week was that people would be closed off and reserved, but CBS completely proved me wrong. The people here are welcoming and warm and really make you feel part of the team.
My intro week was unforgettable. The friendships I made are invaluable to me. As your tutors, we will do everything in our power to make this week as fun and meaningful as possible. You will not only start a great degree, but you will enter the CBS Shipping community where you will be surrounded by people who are rooting for you.

Anna Enemark Lausen
Study Start Guide

Hi everyone!!! Congrats on getting into IST, you definitely made the right choice. I’m Anna, 23 years old, and proudly from Sønderborg in the deep down south of Denmark. I love meeting new people and I’m always up for spontaneous plans and a good laugh. I’m a big football fan, whether it’s playing, watching, or passionately discussing it like I know everything (I don’t…but confidence is key). I also spent a year in Munich where I developed a strong love for beer (but don’t test my German, you might be disappointed). Also, I’m not spiritual at all… but I weirdly love zodiac signs, so I might still ask for yours. Shipping was actually my second priority when I applied, but I’ve since realized it fits me perfectly, especially because of the programme size, the unique structure, and of course the social environment. A year ago, I was in your shoes and just as nervous as everyone else. But if you show up with an open mind, a big smile, and a willingness to make friends, I promise the intro week will turn into some of your best memories. I can’t wait to meet all of you!

Kiara-Margarita Emanuil Nikita
Study Start Guide

Hello guys! My name is Kiara and I am from Bulgaria and Greece and I will be one of your study start tutors. I moved to Denmark 4 years ago in order to do my studies, which started in Multimedia Design, BAAA and led to IST, CBS. I am looking forward to meeting you all at intro week; it will be really fun!

Magnus Wede Brandt
Study Start Guide

I love the sea, thrive on adventure and have no qualms about working hard to reach my goals. The open ocean has always called my name, and my biggest dream is to sail around the world. Before starting on IST – I was a trainee for 2 years, and have now worked in shipping for around 3 years, first at GAC as a ship agent – before then moving to COSCO. I now work at MB Shipbrokers in research. So I have a bit of experience, and any questions you might have, I’d be more than happy to discuss.

Bende Kovács
Study Start Guide

My name is Bende Kovács and I am originally from Hungary so moving here to Denmark was both exciting and a little scary at first. I remember arriving at CBS with plenty of questions and concerns about fitting in, making new friends and starting a new chapter in a new country. Luckily, these concerns disappeared pretty quickly thanks to how welcoming, open and helpful everyone was. That’s also why I wanted to become a study start guide, so I could help create the same experience for the next generation of students. I’m looking forward to meeting all of you and helping make you start at CBS both fun and memorable. See you soon!
