Throughout the introduction week in week 35, we have planned a mix of social and academic activities designed to help you settle in, make new friends, and feel at home at CBS. It is going to be a great start, and we cannot wait to share it with you.

Welcome from Study Director

Welcome to the BSc in Business Administration and Service Management at Copenhagen Business School!

Over the next three years, you will study at one of Europe’s leading business schools, diving into the dynamic, fast-evolving world of services — the largest and fastest-growing sector of the global economy. Our program takes a forward-looking, value-driven approach to how services are managed, developed and innovated. In your second year, you will choose one of three specializations — service innovation, culture and tourism, or digital services — each opening the door to a distinct professional future.

But university is about much more than what happens in the classroom. It is about discovering how you learn best, finding your voice in an international environment, building lasting friendships, and becoming part of a strong academic community. At CBS and especially within the Service Management Program, students and teachers work together to create a supportive and inclusive environment that is key to both academic success and student wellbeing.

Meeting point: Frederiksberg Have – Park Entrance by CBS Porcelænshaven, 2000 Frederiksberg

Practical information: You don’t need to bring anything with you on the first day — just yourself and a bit of energy! Wear comfortable shoes, as there will be outdoor activities and a campus tour. We’d recommend bringing a water bottle (and a rain jacket depending on the weather).

09:00 – 09:15: Arrival (Frederiksberg Have – Park Entrance by CBS Porcelænshaven) If you take the metro, you must get off at Fasanvej metro station. Please arrive as close to the meeting time as possible, so we can start the joint introduction on time. There are many new students and guides coming to CBS this day, so look for guides holding up SEM signs.
You’ll pick up your name tag and get a short introduction to the week’s programme and what to expect. Your tutors will be there to welcome you, so feel free to say hello to the people around you.
09:15 – 10:00: Icebreaker – Duo Game (Frederiksberg Have). You’ll pair up with someone you don’t already know (random group generation) and find one thing you have in common, one thing that’s different, and something unexpected about each other. Then you’ll meet other pairs and introduce one another.
10:00 – 10:30: Walk to CBS Solbjerg Plads. Together with your tutors and fellow students, you’ll head over to room SPs16 for the introduction sessions. We’ll leave on time, so please stay with the group.
10:30 – 11:00: Intro to Study Program (SPs16 BCG). The Study Director presents the structure of your program, the academic expectations, and your key contacts.
11:00 – 11:30: Intro to Study Start Week (SPs16 BCG). The coordinators walk you through the week’s schedule and key information. A good moment to ask any practical questions you have.
11:30 – 12:30: Icebreaker – True North Group Game (green area by Nexus). We will walk towards the green area behind Nexus and play a fast-paced team game built around creative challenges. (If the weather allows for it – else we will stay in SPs16BCG)
12:30 – 13:30: Lunch (provided by Jesper Torvekøkken). Take a break, grab some food, and keep getting to know your fellow students.
13:30 – 15:30: Campus Tour (starting on the green area behind Nexus). In small groups, you’ll follow a route around campus, stopping at checkpoints where a tutor will tell you about each building and set you a fun challenge along the way.
15:30 – 16:00: Wrap-up of the Day (green area behind Nexus). We round off the day, tell you where and when to meet tomorrow, and remind you to sign up for the tutor dinners — finishing with one last icebreaker game (if time allows it).

Meeting point: Greens outside Solbjerg Plads 3, 2000 Frederiksberg.

Practical information: Today is mostly out and about, so dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes — there’s some walking between campus, lunch, and the harbour. We’ll be on a canal boat in the afternoon and outdoors for part of the day, so bring a rain jacket if rain is forecast. You’ll have a long lunch with your study group in the city, so bring a little money for food.

09:00 – 09:30: Arrival & Greeting (greens outside Solbjerg Plads). Meet your guides and fellow students in one big group on the grass outside Solbjerg Plads. Say hello to the people around you — today is all about getting to know your study group.
09:30 – 10:00: Introduction to the Day & Study Groups (SPs16BCG). Your guides walk you through the full schedule for the day and announce the study group assignments. When your group is called, meet up and head in together — you’ll be working with these people all semester.
10:00 – 10:30: Icebreaker – Marshmallow Tower (SPs16BCG). Your first challenge of the day: in your study group you get 12 minutes to build the tallest free-standing tower you can — with a whole marshmallow balanced on top. You’ll have spaghetti, string, and tape to work with.
10:30 – 10:50: Introduction to SMF (SPs16BCG). The course coordinator presents the course content and what’s expected of you.
10:50 – 11:10: Introduction to IMS (SPs16BCG). The course coordinator presents the course content and expectations.
11:10 – 11:30: Introduction to POS & QM (SPs16BCG). The course coordinator presents the course content and expectations.
11:30 – 11:45: Break. A short breather before the group work session. (Tutors: use this time to set up the presentation.)
11:45 – 12:15: Group Work & ‘How to be a Copenhagener’ (SPs16BCG). We’ll introduce how group work and study groups work this semester, and point you to the ‘How to be a Copenhagener’ Instagram guide — take a look at the restaurant recommendations for your lunch. Before lunch, make sure you know you need to be at Gammel Strand by 13:30 at the latest. Your guides will share the route (Rejseplanen from Frederiksberg to Gammel Strand) and a location pin in the group chats.
12:15 – 13:30: Long Lunch with Study Groups (study groups choose). Head out into the local area and bond with your study group over a long lunch. Make sure you’ve found your group before you go.
13:30 – 13:50: Travel to Gammel Strand. Make your way from CBS to the canal boat departure point at Gammel Strand. The boat leaves at 14:00 sharp, so please don’t cut it close.
14:00 – 15:00: Canal Boat Trip (Gammel Strand, Copenhagen). A guided canal boat tour through Copenhagen — a chance to relax and mingle across study groups. (Rain plan: single-use ponchos provided.)
15:00 – 15:30: Wrap-up Icebreaker – Harbour Headlines (near Gammel Strand). To close the academic day, each study group writes a made-up news headline and opening line about the boat trip — one word at a time — then reads it aloud to the others. A calm, creative way to round things off.

Meeting point: Kongens Have – green area near the corner entrance from Gothersgade). Look for your tutors holding signs at the entrance to Kongens Have. The exact meeting spot will be posted in the group chats.

Practical information: Today is a full day outside and on the move, so wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather (bring a rain jacket if rain is forecast). We start in Kongens Have and spend the middle of the day on a scavenger hunt around Copenhagen. Lunch is on your own today — it isn’t provided — so bring some money or a packed lunch. Have your phone fullycharged: your group submits scavenger hunt entries and gets updates through the group chats.

08:30 – 09:00: Arrival (Kongens Have – green area near the corner entrance from Gothersgade). Look for your tutors holding signs at the entrance to Kongens Have. The exact meeting spot will be posted in the group chats.
09:00 – 10:00: Icebreaker Games – Guess Who & Life Story (Kongens Have). We’ll kick off the morning with a couple of quick games in random groups to get everyone mixing. In Life Story, you’ll stand in a circle in groups of about 10 and pair up with the person next to you. Each of you gets two minutes to share a bit about yourself — your background, your interests, and one thing you’re proud of. Then everyone turns back to the circle and introduces their partner to the rest of the group.
10:00 – 13:00: CPH Scavenger Hunt (around Copenhagen). In groups of about 10, you’ll race around Copenhagen completing challenges and collecting points. Your tutor will explain the rules to your group before you set off, and you’ll submit your entries through the group chat as you go. Have fun and explore the city — there are prizes for the winning team.
13:00 – 14:00: Lunch Break (on your own). Grab lunch wherever you like — food isn’t provided today, so bring money or a packed lunch.
14:00 – 14:30: Wrap-up & Winners Announcement (Frederiksberg Have). We’ll gather the groups, round off the day, and tell you about the upcoming SEM social event. Then it’s the moment everyone’s waiting for — the scavenger hunt winners are announced and prizes are handed out.

Meeting point: Greens outside Solbjerg Plads 3, 2000 Frederiksberg.

Practical information: The last day of the week comes in two parts. The morning is indoor sessions at CBS (Solbjerg Plads) – bring your laptops, then you have a long break in the middle of the day to head home, drop off your laptop, and change before the evening. We finish with a Beach BBQ & Olympics at Amager Strand, so bring comfortable clothes and shoes and dress for being outside. Eat before you head to the beach — dinner isn’t provided — and bring a little money for snacks or drinks if you’d like. Transport details for Amager Strand will be shared in the group chats.

09:00 – 09:30: Arrival & Icebreakers (greens outside Solbjerg Plads). Gather with your tutors and fellow students outside Solbjerg Plads. You’ll warm up with a few small icebreakers — in groups, you’ll chat about how your week has gone using some prompt questions — and get a quick overview of the day ahead.
09:40 – 09:50: Student Guidance at CBS (SPs16 BCG). A run-through of where to get help during your studies: the IT desk, Student Hub, Student Counselling, the library, and how to book meeting rooms and study desks. You’ll also get tips on good places to study — the Black Diamond, the libraries, and study cafés. Tip: take photos of the slides so you have them later.
10:00 – 10:40: Presentations – Digital Tools (SPs16 BCG). An introduction to the key digital tools you’ll use throughout your studies: Canvas, my.cbs.dk, and setting up the CBS WiFi.
10:50 – 11:20: CBS Students (SPs16 BCG). A representative from CBS Students introduces the organisation and what it offers you as a student.
11:20 – 12:00: Kahoot / Q&A / Slido (SPs16 BCG). An interactive session to reflect on the week and ask any last questions before the semester starts. We’ll run a Kahoot or Slido to keep it fun, with an open Q&A — ask us anything.
12:05 – 12:15: Study Start Intro Test (SPs16 BCG). A brief intro to the study start test – what it is, how it works, the exam date, and where to find it. Before you head off, the tutors will give a short wrap-up with their recommendations and tips (about 15 minutes).
13:00 – 17:00: Long Break – Relax Before Evening (go home or into the city). Free time to head home, drop off your computer, and change into something comfortable for the beach. Make sure you’ve eaten before the evening starts.
– Transport info (Rejseplan) and a location pin for Amager Strand will be posted in the group chats. A tutor will be at the station to meet you between 15:45 and 16:15, and the evening starts at 16:00 — so make sure you know where to go.
16:00 – 20:00: Beach BBQ & Olympics (Amager Strand). A fun, social way to close out the week. Enjoy the Copenhagen summer with a beach BBQ and friendly Olympic-style games. You’ll be split into groups and rotate through game stations, competing against each other (with breaks to relax in between). The winning teams face off in one final game for a chocolate ‘Olympic medal’.

Join CBS for an online seminar to help you get settled in Denmark and at CBS. You will get information and tips about registration with the authorities, housing, living in Denmark and much more.

23 August: Welcome event

On this day you will get essential practical, academic and cultural information to assist you in your transition to CBS and Copenhagen.

We are a team of enthusiastic guides from across SEM, and we are genuinely looking forward to welcoming you in week 35. Over the past weeks, we have put a great deal of effort into planning an introduction that gives you the best possible start to your studies at CBS.

Each of us has been in your shoes, so we know that the first week comes with plenty of new impressions, questions, and unfamiliar faces. That is exactly why we are here. Throughout the week, we will be your main point of contact for anything you need, whether it relates to your programme, campus life, or simply finding your way around.

Our goal is straightforward: to help you feel welcome, settle in quickly, and get to know both your fellow students and the academic and social environment at CBS. Please do not hesitate to reach out to any of us along the way. No question is too small.
